Who we are
WhiskeyLogs is a whiskey collection tracker and tasting journal, available at whiskeylogs.com and app.whiskeylogs.com. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it — in plain language.
What we collect
- Account data. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, our authentication provider — your email address, optional Google or Apple profile info, and display name live there. In our own database we store your Clerk user ID, display name, date of birth (to enforce the 21+ age requirement), and any optional profile fields you fill in.
- Content you create. Bottles in your collection, tastings (including flavor profiles and notes), reviews, venue sightings, your wishlist, and photos you upload.
- Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist on our landing page, we store the email address you give us.
- The palate quiz. The anonymous quiz runs entirely in your browser. We only store your quiz result if you choose to carry it into signup.
How we use it
- To run the product. Your collection and tasting journal exist so you can use them — that's it.
- Community aggregates. We compute community whiskey ratings, community flavor profiles, and venue sightings shown to other users. Reviews and venue sightings are visible to other users by design; your personal collection and tastings are private to your account.
- Waitlist email. We use your waitlist email to tell you about the launch.
We do not run advertising, we do not sell personal data, and we do not currently use any third-party analytics.
Service providers
A small set of providers process data on our behalf, each only to provide the service:
- Clerk — authentication
- MongoDB Atlas — database
- Railway — hosting
- Cloudflare — CDN and image storage
Age requirement
WhiskeyLogs is for people 21 and older. We verify your date of birth at signup and do not knowingly serve minors.
Cookies and local storage
We use an authentication session (managed by Clerk) and minimal local storage needed for the app to function. There are no tracking cookies.
Your choices
- Access and update. You can view and edit your profile directly in the app.
- Delete your account and data. Contact us at hello@whiskeylogs.com and we'll delete your account and its data. (In-app deletion is coming; until then, deletion is handled by request.)
- Leave the waitlist. Email the same address and we'll remove you.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you make a verified deletion request, we delete it.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top.
